This ministry desires to meet and greet visitors, friends, and parishioners of St. Mary. We are here to serve those who attend Mass in the capacity fitting of the manner demonstrated by Jesus Christ. If you have a question or need on Sunday mornings, look for the friendly faces wearing the usher name tag.
The duties of St. Mary Ushers are:
– to serve together in a manner that is pleasing to God
– to glorify the house of the Lord by providing a safe, courteous, and friendly place of worship
– to maintain order within a flexible and welcoming atmosphere
– to be attentive to the needs of the parish
Christian hospitality draws people together, opens them to participation, and sets the tone for the liturgy. In the welcome and Christ-like attitude, Ushers ensure that the faithful see and experience the love of Christ. This ministry is crucial because it is so visible in the Church. The attitude, conduct, and even the appearance of the Usher directly affects, either positively, the experience of the faithful at Mass.
The Ushers care for the assembly and make them feel at home.
